Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
A reading of texts by the French philosopher and religious thinker Simone Weil (1909-1943) on the themes of attention, love, compassion for the poor, art, and beauty, as well as her interpretation of the Lord's Prayer.
During the course, students will acquire the following competencies: - Understanding of the key themes of Simone Weil's thought. - Ability to interpret and critically analyze philosophical texts, including working with Czech translations and commentaries. - Orientation in the historical and theological context. - Development of the ability to engage in philosophical discussion within the seminar, including the formulation of one's own questions and opinions. - The ability to present and defend one's own understanding of the text during the final colloquium.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

The course requirements can be met by regular active online participation in the seminar and successful completion of the final online oral colloquium, which is scheduled for January 2027.
