Course content
1. Spectrum-concept, fundamental characteristics and relations. Absorption spectra. 2. UV/VIS spectroscopy. 3. Absorption spectra and structure of substances. 4. IR spectroscopy. Introduction, basic vibrations. Instrumentation. 5. IR spectra-structure of substances. 6. Raman spectroscopy-its use for the study of the structures of biological macromolecules. 7. Resonance Raman spectroscopy. 8. Mössbauer spectroscopy. 9. NMR and ESR spectroscopy - instrumentation and applications. 10. Emission spectra. Fluorescence spectroscopy-instrumentation. 11. Steady-state and time-differentiated fluorescence. Examples of applications as to the studying the structure of substances and their interactions. 12. Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), relaxation of solvate layers. 13. Chirooptical methods /ORD, CD/. The study of the structure of biological macromolecules.
