Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: - Explain the role of physiotherapy in internal medicine and geriatric care, including principles of safe practice and interdisciplinary collaboration. - Perform a basic assessment of geriatric and internal medicine patients, including medical history taking and fundamental kinesiology analysis. - Apply fundamental principles of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation in hospitalized patients, including early mobilization and breathing exercises. - Describe and implement basic rehabilitation strategies in selected clinical conditions such as stroke (CVA), total joint replacement (TEP), and cachexia. - Design simple conditioning exercise programs adapted to internal medicine and geriatric patients, considering exercise dosage and monitoring of vital signs. - Apply balance, gait, and functional training techniques to support mobility, fall prevention, and independence. - Promote independence through training of activities of daily living (ADL) and safe patient handling techniques. - Integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills through basic clinical reasoning and case-based problem solving.
