Course content
|
1. Rehabilitation of patients following surgical procedures. 2. Cardiac Rehabilitation I ? rehabilitation for selected cardiovascular diseases. 3. Cardiac Rehabilitation II ? specific physical therapy techniques for patients with cardiovascular diseases. 4. Pulmonary Rehabilitation I ? rehabilitation for selected respiratory system diseases. 5. Pulmonary Rehabilitation II ? specific physical therapy procedures for patients with respiratory diseases. 6. Rehabilitation for type I and II diabetes mellitus, ischemic disease of the lower extremities, obesity, polyneuropathy, and arterial hypertension. 7. Rehabilitation for Athletes. 8. Rehabilitation for Selected Diseases of the Gastrointestinal Tract. 9. Rehabilitation for Swallowing Disorders. 10. Rehabilitation During Pregnancy and the Postpartum Period. Specifics of Rehabilitation Care, Indications, Risks, and Contraindications. 11. Vestibular rehabilitation and vestibular training. 12. Rehabilitation for rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and Scheuermann?s disease. 13. Course review and practical assesment.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of this course is to learn the principles and specific procedures of physical therapy for selected internal medicine and other conditions. Students will understand the principles of rehabilitation for cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, gastrointestinal, rheumatological, and other selected conditions and will be able to select and apply appropriate physical therapy procedures, taking into account the patient?s current health status, indications, risks, and contraindications of therapy.
The student applies the knowledge gained in clinical practice. The student is able to select an appropriate physical therapy approach for patients with selected internal medicine and other diagnoses and to correctly apply it in practice, taking into account the patient?s health status, as well as the indications and contraindications for therapy.

Prerequisites
|
A prerequisite for taking this course is a sufficient knowledge of anatomy, physiology, the fundamentals of kinesiology, examination methods, the fundamentals of kinesiotherapy, neurology, the pathophysiology of pain, internal medicine, and the previous SPK courses (1?2).

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Dialog, Written exam
100% attendance in classes and continuous completion of assigned study tasks. To obtain course credit, students are required to successfully complete a theoretical test and a practical examination, during which they must demonstrate the ability to apply the knowledge and practical skills acquired throughout the course. Students are allowed a maximum of three attempts.
