Course content
|
1. The system of social care and social services in the Czech Republic. Basic legislative framework and organization of social care. 2. The concept of comprehensive rehabilitation care and the continuity between health and social care. The role of the social worker within an interdisciplinary team. 3. Social services - basic types, forms of provision, and their use for people with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or limited self-sufficiency. 4. The social support system - selected social benefits, allowances, and other forms of support for people with health-related limitations. 5. Specific aspects of social care and support for selected groups of clients. The needs of people with different types of disabilities and limitations in self-sufficiency. 6. Practical orientation within the social care system - providing patients with basic information, collaboration with social workers, and referral to available social services. 7. Review of course content and course credit.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of the course is to introduce students to the system of social care and social services, their organization, and their use for people with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or limited self-sufficiency. Students will gain a basic overview of available forms of social services and social support, including selected benefits and allowances. They will be able to recognize situations in which it is appropriate to recommend consultation with a social worker and to provide basic guidance on suitable forms of social services or support according to the patient's needs and life situation.
The student is familiar with the system of social care and social services and applies the acquired knowledge within comprehensive rehabilitation care. The student is able to recognize situations in which a patient may require social support, inform the patient about basic options for social care and support, and refer them to a social worker when appropriate.

|
Student performance, Dialog, Written exam
100% participation in seminars and elaboration of a group presentation on a given topic - patient case report from the point of view of comprehensive rehabilitation.
