Learning outcomes
In the theoretical part of the course, students are introduced to the basic principles of the effects of electrophysical agents (EPAs), their indications, and contraindications. The content is primarily focused on issues of contact electrotherapy, thermotherapy and hydrotherapy, as well as the non-contact use of electromagnetic wave energy. The practical training takes place at the RRR Center and allows students their first direct contact with EPAs, as students simulate the roles of patient and therapist themselves. They build on the theoretical knowledge acquired through lectures and self-study, learning to apply EPAs "lege artis." This prepares them for their first contact with real patients and also provides them with a basic overview of the available instrumental techniques. By mastering the application techniques of individual procedures, students are given a foundation for independent decision-making within the limits prescribed by the physician.
The student, both theoretically and practically, masters the principles, applications, as well as the indications and contraindications of electrophysical agents, specifically in the areas of contact electrotherapy (combined therapy, low-frequency TENS, stimulation of innervated and denervated muscles), thermotherapy and hydrotherapy, as well as the non-contact use of electromagnetic wave energy (magnetotherapy, diathermy, phototherapy).
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the basics of physics, biophysics, anatomy, physiology, and the procedures covered in the first part of the course.
