Course content
|
1) Structure of the measurement chain. Transducers of physical quantities into electrical signals. 2) Static and dynamic characteristics of sensors. Methods for reducing their errors. 3) Amplitude and time analysis of signals (discrimination, SCA, MCA, TOF, coincidence measurements). 4) Light sensors (phototube, photomultiplier, photoresistor, photodiode, CCD and CMOS elements). 5) Detection of ionizing radiation (scintillation, gas-filled, and semiconductor detectors). Detection of charged particles, gamma-ray photons, and neutrons. 6) Temperature sensors (resistive, semiconductor, thermoelectric). The ITS-90 temperature scale. 7) Sensors of mechanical, electrical, and magnetic quantities. 8) Actuators, regulation. 9) Smart sensors, implementation of computer technology, artificial intelligence. 10) Nanosensorics principles of using nanoparticles and nano-objects applications of nanotechnologies in sensor design. Sensor miniaturization, MEMS sensors.

Learning outcomes
|
Students will learn the principles of measurement of different types of units and ranges, and acquire basic knowledge of processing signals from the detectors.
Knowledge Define the main ideas and conceptions of the subject, describe the main approaches of the studied topics, recall the theoretical knowledge for solution of model problems.
