The aim of this course is to prepare a comprehensive literature review on the research topic submitted during the entrance exam. Under the guidance of the supervisor and members of the dissertation committee (consultants) the student creates a list of essential literature on the chosen topic. This is also the stage when the originally proposed topic can be modified to fit the state of the art in the field and at the same time be feasible within the time frame of the doctoral study. The student prepares an overview, the content and structure of which is regularly, preferably weekly, consulted with the supervisor. Regular consultations with the consultant are also expected and recommended. The literature review should include: - The research question in a broader context - Main works on the topic in general - Main works on the topic concerning the particular area/culture/language " Current state of knowledge on the researched topic " Related research and its methodology " Overview of research centres and institutions dedicated to the research topic or related topics " Research objectives " General relevance (and, where relevant, practical impact) of the research " Detailed list of references
