Bodily identities in contemporary body-based arts The semester-long seminar is focused on reflection and analysis of diverse body identities in contemporary body-based arts (mainly dance, performance art, physical and non-verbal theater, new circus). The focus of the research is the relationship of man to the body, through which he thematizes and discusses his own existential experience and knowledge of the living world within the artistic spectrum, and at the same time presents to the audience the most poignant phenomena of our time. The course will be based on viewing videos or the audience's own reception of individual selected works, relying on the existing multi-layered literature on the issue we are reflecting on, and above all constantly constituting and transforming through our common active discussion within each meeting.
At the end of this course, the student will: - enriched with partial aspects of contemporary body-based arts with the ability of their relevant reflection and analysis - in more detail and in the form of concrete examples enriched* with current theoretical interpretations of the investigated issue - able* to use adequate terminology and concepts related to the body and physicality, identities or body-based arts in general
