Learning outcomes
The aim of this interdisciplinary course is to deepen students' competences in audiovisual and intermedia analysis on AV formats that draw on the cultural and historical context of Greco- Roman Antiquity. The Classical culture, known as the radle of European culture and a dominant point of cultural reference, has been subject to reception and various more or less "respectful" or subversive adaptations, which will be the focus of the course.
Students will be able to explain selected theories of intermedia analysis and translation as cultural adaptation and show their possible application to specific AV material. They will understand the concept of referential/authoritative culture and will be able to name different ways of its reception using the example of ancient culture.
