Learning outcomes
Course title: Music Video in Platform Culture: Aesthetics, Circulation, Politics The course pursues three central aims: (1) to introduce students to contemporary music video culture, its aesthetic, platform-based, and broader cultural and social dimensions, as well as to current approaches to its theoretical analysis; (2) to provide a set of productive interdisciplinary concepts drawn from audiovisual studies, media theory, platform studies, and cultural analysis, and to explore their analytical use; (3) to refine students' analytical and argumentative skills while cultivating their capacity for critical and conceptual thought, including a basic competence in working with platform environments and available data. In the Fall semester of 2026/2027, our focus will be on music video in platform culture, with particular attention to aesthetics, circulation, and cultural and political impact. The course will also include practical work with the YouTube interface, platform metrics, comments, and basic methods of platform data analysis.
