Learning outcomes
This course aims to explore the relationship between theatre organisations and the climate crisis, and to promote understanding of it. Like other parts of society, cultural organisations are developing strategies to adapt to climate change and mitigate environmental impacts. Permanent public theatres, in particular, are currently facing the challenge of adapting their operations without losing audience interest or aesthetic quality, given their demanding production and staging of performances, permanent ensembles, lighting, and buildings of varying ages.
The learner will gain basic information about the climate crisis and its social and environmental aspects, about the ways in which theatre institutions can adapt to climate change, and about aesthetic practices for portraying reflections of current social challenges in the Anthropocene. Learners will also practice group work, speaking, and critical and creative thinking. The course is formally taught as a seminar, and therefore emphasis is placed on interactive and dialogic modes of learning, which are supplemented by interpretation. The course is also based on self-study and discussion of regularly read professional and artistic texts in English and Czech, as well as analysis of audiovisual examples.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Seminar Work

The course culminates in a combined ending. Students are awarded credit for delivering a 15-minute presentation on their own research, and are evaluated on the basis of their presentation skills. They are then graded on a written report on the results of their research, which should be 10 standard pages long (18,000 characters including spaces) and adhere to professional standards. If you have any questions about the material covered, I recommend contacting the instructor early and taking advantage of the tutorial. Determination of the credit value of the course: Contact teaching: 25 hours = 1 kr Presentation = 0.5 kr Written work: 10 ns = 1 kr Reading a professional text in English of approx. 150 pages = 1.5 kr. Reading a professional text in Czech of 200 pages = 1 kr
