Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the procedures of active reading of scholarly literature, especially taking extracts, and with the basic procedures of academic writing. The course will also introduce students to information resources, databases and online catalogues for theatre research.
By completing the course, students will gain the ability to understand a academic text well (recognition of the basic outline, vocabulary), which they can analyse and interpret. They will also acquire the basics of academic written communication (reasons, genres, formal rules), including the rules of academic ethics and the recognition of plagiarism. They will also acquire the basics of information literacy and acquire knowledge of subject-specific databases, gaining the ability to recognize the scope, purpose, and type of information sought.
