Course content
|
Attention will be paid to the analysis of innovative elements of television broadcasting and to the trends of the entertainment television and audiovisual industry in relation to work and audiences, convergence of "classic" television and online platforms, genre shifts, gender and sexuality commodification in an effort to reach young audiences or legislative changes and their influence on television medium. In relation to the radio the focus will be on transforming broadcasting competencies in connection with digitization, internet radio, the expansion of podcasts and the transformation of public service media in Central and Western Europe.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to introduce theoretical and critical approaches to contemporary audiovisual media with an emphasis on television and radio. The present forms of both these media will be discussed in all available genres and in different forms of new technology platforms, their theoretical and academic reflection. Narrative and semiological concepts are part of the lecture for methodological of both media. The lecture further develops the theory of reception, reflects adaptation issues and deals with dramaturgical views on the formatting and programming of television and radio media.

The lecture assumes discharge of the final TV and radio studies state examination.
