Course content
1) exegesis and its methods 2) application of the exegetic methods, demonstrated on chosen texts from the New Testament

Learning outcomes
Explanation of terms "exegesis" and "hermeneutics", literary genres in the Bible, literal sense of the text and secondary senses. Explanation of fundamental principles of biblical exegesis. It will be shown at different New Testament passages how these principles of exegesis can be practically applied to singular biblical texts, how they can be understood so as to learn the message that they bring. The subject creation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.

To manifest professional knowledge of the problems of the New Testament exegesis The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS.
