Learning outcomes
The subject Fundamentals of Biotechnology aims to introduce students with basic concepts, definitions and history of biotechnology in the introductory lecture. The following lectures are focused on the interpretation of the gene and the principles of genetic engineering. In the third part of the course, students are introduced to the technologically exploitable biochemical processes using living organisms or their components in different types of biotechnology. The final lecture is focused on ethics, patent management and legislation in the field of biotechnology.
Students will gain a broad base of knowledge about different types of biotechnology, their principles and utilization in the present and prospective applications in the future.
