Course content
RHETORIC - The current linguistic situation, the conditions of effective communication, the main principles of understanding of the text. - Principles correct choice of words, pronunciation, form and meaning. - Syntax structures of rhetorical speeches. - Sound modulation of rhetorical speeches. - Specific language rhetorical figures. - Types of nonverbal and paraverbal signals. - Rhetorical style, rhetorical genres and composition. - Logical aspects of rhetoric. ORTHOEPY - Orthoepic principles of vowels. - Orthoepic principles of consonants and consonantal groups. - Accommodation and assimilation in contemporary Czech. - Timing ("word") accent - its character and function. - Phonetic (prosodic) aspects of continuous speech. Basic intonation patterns of literary Czech and their functions.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is join the knowledge of rhetorics and ortoephy and show their practical use in editorial office, which work primarily with spoken language.
