Course content
A. Literary-historical relationships 1) Sépie - polemic with poetism 2) Kohout plaší smrt. Halas - expressionist 3) Tvář. Poet's spirituality. Confrontation Halas - Zahradníček. 4) Dokořán. Experiment and servitude in the Czech poetry of 1930´s. B. Aesthetics of disruption. Destruction of the literary-aesthetic norms. 5) Torzo naděje. Ladění.. Beginning of poetic virtuosity. 6) A co? 7) Potopa, Hlad and other projects and fragments C. Intersections of interpretation 8) Poet. Word, image, gesture. 9) Meditation, contemplation, silence 10) Signs of Halas's poetry. Halas's modelling of world. 11) Body and world. Existentialism. 12) Involvement of subject. Ethic in poetry.

Learning outcomes
The seminar deals with the poetry of Halas, development of his poetics, confrontations between ideology and independence of literary sign.
In the seminar, students will be familiarized with development trends of the Czech interwar literature and with the position of Frantisek Halas in the development of Czech literature.
