Course content

Ancient motives in the decadent´s works. 6) Ancient motifs in the tetralogy of Viktor Dyk 7) Ancient Mythology in Halas´s poetry 8) The typology of ancient motifs in the early collections of Vladimir Holan 9) The polyphony of the ancient resonance - M. C. Putna 10) Christ and Apollo - two bases of Jiří Kuběna´s works 11) The Antika in the Vladimír Vokolek´s works 12) The voltage of the ancient and the biblical code in poems of Josef Kostohryz

Learning outcomes
The seminar is based on a specific text material to characterize the different tendencies in the reception of antiquity in selected texts of the Czech literature of the19th and 20th century. It also followed a confrontation with the dominant Christian code.
After attending the seminar student will be able to analyze the literature reflecting the ancient heritage and differentiate in response to literary-historical stage of nuance and specifics of each approach.
