Course content
Introduction to practical analysis Introduction to practical textology. Editing a manuscript, reconstruction of the textual process. Textological work with accessible sources when editing a text. Selection of the original text. Preparation of the original text. The terms: text development, text version, author's intent, text violation, emendation etc. Classification of text changes. Text and orthographic norm. Normative and alternative orthographic adaptations in editions. Practical analyses of both published editions and unpublished manuscripts. The problem of quantity - considering the poetry. Stylistic differences in the text: using dialects and sociolects. Word forms, lexicon. Syntax, punctuation. Editor's report. The function and content of the editor's report. Its variants (note, report, commentary). From the manuscript to the edition. Editing a literary source deposited in the archive.

Learning outcomes
In the seminar and lectures, attention will be focused namely to the following thematic circles: types of editions, transcription, transliteration, versions and variants of the text.
Practical knowledge of the basic editing methods Ability to prepare an edition of a literary text Knowledge of the basic textological terms, ability to apply them in analyses
