Course content |
Basic syntactical unit, basic syntactical relations, functions of verb as the central element of sentence, verbal valency and intention, basic sentence structure, sentence patterns, transformations, three levels of syntax, traditional sentence members and the complex characteristics of the individual sentence positions, clause and sentence, parataxis and hypotaxis, apposition relation, basic terms of the functional sentence perspective, phenomena of the so called hypersyntax.

Learning outcomes |
Syntactic analysis is based on concept of the valence syntax. The analysis is aimed to identification of the basic complement and free additions.
Having attended the lectures students are ready for syntactical analysis of text, they are ready to uncover the rules of text composition and alone are able to produce text according to these rules. |
Prerequisites |
Subject is taught in the 2nd period of bachelor programme, it is preferred to attend it after passing subject Morphology.

Assessment methods and criteria |
Oral exam
Active participation in the lectures, writing an independent scientific work concerning a topic from the lectures, successful passing of the written test and oral exam. |
