Course content
|
The seminar focuses on understanding the basic morphological unit and its analysis. The integral part of the course is mastering the morphological norm. 1) Basic concepts of morphonology and morphematics, analysis of the inner structure of the wordform, types of morphs 2) Word as a syntagma, twofold morphology 3) Structure of nominal wordforms, types of declination 4) Structure of adjectival and pronominal wordforms, numeral inflection 5) Structure of verbal wordforms, types of conjugation 6) Terminology of verbal forms and verbal meanings 7) Finite/infinite verbal forms, analytical verbal forms, verbal constructions 8) Wordformation in Czech 9) Conversion 10) Tendencies in development (nouns, verbs) 11) Morphology in the textbooks of Czech for foreigners 12) School linguistic terminology (unification as the project of EU and the ministry of education) 13) The typological construct, types of language from the morphological standpoint

Learning outcomes
|
The goal of the course is to explain the basic morphological terminology, the notion of the word as a syntagma and the twofold character of morphology (lexical and inflectional), in the practical part the aim is to master the morphological norm of Modern Czech.
The ability to apply theoretical knowledge to the morphological description and master the morphological norm of Modern Czech with regard to its stylish diversification, synchronous development trends and typological characteristics.
