Course content
1. The fundamental problems of the literary history, its possible models. 2. Literary direction as a literary historical construct. 3. Periodical publications in literary communication. 4. The influence of journalism on the formation of literary genres, the specifics of the situation publication of literary works in the periodical. 5. Edition of correspondence, diaries and memoirs. 6. The literary genre of literary development as a factor. 7. Textological aspects of Karel Hynek Macha. 8. The genesis of literary works, the reconstruction of the biographical context. 9. Receptionist approaches to studying literature of the 19th century. 10. Question of the literary canon of Czech literature of the 19th century. 11. Problems of film adaptations of literary works. 12. Reconstruction of contemporary critical acclaim literary work.

Learning outcomes
The objectives of the seminar is to continue the lectures of Methods of the literary history I. The fundamental methods of the literary history will be applied to specific textual material Czech literature of the 19th century. Students will be familiar with current issues and controversies of the Czech literary history focused on the literature of the 19th century.
The aim of this course is to acauire basic literary historical skills and habits and be able to apply it to a literary text.

Active participation in seminars, preparation of materials for study, reading of recommended texts. Final examination: credit test.
