Course content
LECTURE It is aimed at a general theoretical presentation of the characteristics of the lexical system. The emphasis is on the following topics. 1. Introduction to lexicology and lexicography 2. Development of Czech lexicography 3. The word as a feature and basic unit of the lexical system 4. Onomasiology and semasiology 5. Vocabulary as a system 6. Word meaning and structure of lexical meaning 7. Meaning relationships between words 8. Expressivity of a word 9. Phraseology, phrase, types of phrase 10. Onomastics

Learning outcomes
The course aims to equip learners with the knowledge and competencies that will enable them to 1) interpret the lexical aspect of linguistic expressions; 2) to present vocabulary as a system, to understand the functioning and structure of the system; 3) to orient themselves in the specialized literature of the subject. The lecture is focused on a theoretical introduction to the study and description of the lexical system.
Orientation in contemporary lexicology and lexicography (metods, approaches, sources).

Orientation in the general linguistic.
