Zde je anglický překlad textu, upravený tak, aby si zachoval akademickou přesnost, plynulost a přirozený tón univerzitních sylabů v anglosaském prostředí. V textu jsem mírně upravil číslování v první větě (bod 2a předpokládá logicky i bod 2b, v angličtině však v souvislém textu lépe funguje rozdělení pomocí standardních bodů, nebo hladké syntaktické napojení). The seminar is designed as a practical complement to the theoretical lecture series. It consists of (1) reading and discussing major theoretical studies, and (2) developing independent interpretations of specific (predominantly) Czech literary works, followed by a critical reflection on this process. Students do not learn to mechanically apply theoretical concepts to literary works; rather, through immediate reading experience, they explore how an interpretation arises, what assumptions it stems from, and where its limits lie. The core method of work is triangulation: confronting one's own interpretation with insights from theoretical texts (which problematize phenomena such as authorial intent, textual intent, deconstruction, or the reader's gender position) and with specific, historically existing critical interpretations of the given work. This triple perspective guides students toward self-reflection regarding their own interpretive procedures and leads them to ponder key questions of literary studies: What makes an interpretation acceptable or defensible? How do we navigate a conflict of different readings of the same text? And what role do our own, often unconscious, ideological or aesthetic assumptions play in the evaluation of a work?
