Course content
|
Introduction to the diploma seminar - requirements for the diploma thesis; work preparation schedule; principles of cooperation with the supervisor. Choice and specification of the topic - selection of the research problem and choice of the current topic of Bohemian research; - formulation of the title of the thesis. Research questions and objectives of the thesis - characteristics of the scientific problem; formulation of the main and partial objectives; relationship between objectives and methodology. Research of professional literature - study of professional literature, research of selected studies and monographs; critical evaluation of sources. Theoretical foundations of the thesis - creation of a theoretical framework; work with key concepts. Methodology of Bohemian research - qualitative approaches; quantitative approaches; combined research strategies. Citation and research ethics - citation standards; work with paraphrase; prevention of plagiarism. Preparation of the empirical part of the thesis - creation of a corpus or analyzed set; collection and organization of data; targeted excerpt. Presentation of diploma thesis projects - presentation of the results of research work; discussion with the supervisor; feedback and recommendations The output of the seminar is a thesis project containing objectives, theoretical background, methodology and preliminary bibliography.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the diploma seminar is to provide the graduate with comprehensive support in the creation of the qualification thesis, methodological and professional guidance. The graduate consults on the topic of the thesis, its structure, the selection of material for analysis and the method for its processing.
After completing the discipline, students will: - formulate the topic and objectives of the thesis; - define the research problem and research questions, or formulate hypotheses; - be familiar with relevant professional literature; - be able to work critically with professional sources; - apply the principles of academic writing and citation ethics; - choose an appropriate methodological procedure; - prepare a thesis project; - present the ongoing results of their work to the supervisor.

Students master the norms of academic communication, master the perception and production of texts in a theoretically professional style.

Students will continuously: - consult the progress of their work with their supervisor; - create a mock-up of the thesis text; - create a corpus of texts for analysis, or collect authentic material; - choose a suitable method; - submit a preliminary list of bibliography (min. 20 relevant professional sources).
