Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

The exam is oral and asks three basic questions. The first analytical-interpretive question is devoted to the fiction titles read by the listener from contemporary Czech literature, the second is aimed at the presentation of one of the important Czech literary personalities of the period and the third question refers to more general characteristic trends or phenomena of the period (literary groups, trends...). The formulation of all three questions is based both on the lecture topics and on the programmes of the seminars attended by the student, but most of all it takes into account the list of fiction read, which all those who wish to take the exam are obliged to submit. The list must include 30 titles on which the student is able to speak competently. One may use one's own reading notes in preparation. (In order to prevent unfairness during the examination, the examiner reserves the right to consult these notes!)
