Learning outcomes
Aims of the subject: to present the inventory of Czech sounds and letters and to underline differences between written and spoken Czech language; to present basic rules of Czech orthography; to build skills in writing, to demonstrate how to use common manuals of orthographical rules. Main topics: diferences between sounds and letters (b, p, d, t, h, ch, r, l), spelling of groups di, ti, ni vs. dy, ty, ny and dě, tě, tě; spelling of groups with i/y; spelling s-/z- (according to the casus); spelling of basic borrowed words; spelling of capital letters; writing of basic abreviations; rules of punctuation.
