Learning outcomes
Tuition, focused on the presentation of formal morphology of contemporary Czech, will be conceived predominantly as synchronic, with the exception of brief commentaries used to clarify developmental changes in the Czech language that were a source of current formal variants in the Czech language. The subject aims predominantly at presenting the structure of paradigms of inflected parts of speech in contemporary Czech. Elementary types of both nominal and verbal inflection (including variant forms) will be presented to the students, and also minority inflection types that differ from the basic declension and conjugation models. As the class will mostly concentrate on formal aspect of morphology, the inflexible parts of speech will be discussed only briefly, in the extent corresponding to their structural complexity.
Basic knowledge of the Czech verbal conjugation and noun/adjective declension, included minority inflection types.
