Course content
Topics: 1. Theory of digital photography: pixel, dpi and image resolution, colour modes - RGB, CMYK; composition and the golden section. 2. Theory of sound: analogue and digital signal; digitizing audio (A/D conversion) - sampling rate, quantization, and data compression; dynamic vs. capacity microphone; directional characteristics of microphones; sound formats and accessories. 3. Theory of digital video: the number of lines, frame rate, interlaced and full spacing; standards of television broadcasting - PAL, SECAM, NTSC; video codecs and video formats.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to prepare students for work with modern audio-visual technologies, especially digital photography, sound and video recording/editing processes. The students will be acquainted with theoretical principles of the technologies but will have a possibility to use these advices in practice as well.
