Plant cell - cell wall, membrane organells (structure, function). Transport mechanisms. Photosynthesis. Light energy utilization to produce ATP and NADPH. The Benson-Calvin cycle. C3, C4 and CAM plants. Photorespiration. Metabolite transport in chloroplast. Carbohydrate metabolism - storage and structural carbohydrates. Building up the cell wall. Lipid metabolism. Primary nitrogen metabolism. Nitrogen fixation. Nitrate metabolism. Ammonia uptake and transport. Amino acids metabolism. Sulphate uptake and metabolism. Phenolic metabolism. Isoprenoid metabolism. Senescence and programmed cell death. Plant pathology. Plant cell biotechnology.
