Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture
  • Attendace - 13 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Exam - 20 hours per semester
  • Homework for Teaching - 20 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Students will get acquainted with biochemical, molecular biological, and genetic methods currently used in solid cancer diagnostics. In the beginning, we will discuss individual types of solid tumors and the possibilities of their diagnostics and treatment. We will discuss each tumor marker type with the focus on the possibilities of their detection and their significance for determining the prognosis of the disease or predicting the effectiveness of therapy. Students will get acquainted in detail with the possibilities of current personalized medicine. The lectures will be supplemented by case studies. The course will be completed by an excursion to the Laboratory of Experimental Medicine, the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine, the Medical Faculty of Palacky University, and the University Hospital in Olomouc.
