Course content
Introduction to the methods used for chromosome identification (nonspecific and specific staining): mitosis in root apex of onion, meiosis in anthers of chive. Mendelistic inheritance. Pedigree analysis. Genetic essence of AB0 blood system.

Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Demonstration, Laboratory Work
Learning outcomes
Practicals focussed on staining of different types of chromosomes, mitotic and allotypic division, mendelism and genetic essence of AB0 blood system.
Student is able to (after attending the course): - Identify the chromosomes using nonspecific and specific staining - Analyse mitosis in root apex of onion - Analyse meiosis in anthers of chive - Discuss Mendelian inheritance, pedigree analysis, genetics of AB0 blood system .
