Course content
The subject is taught in three quarter-hour blocks. Assistant professors, docents, professors and scientific workers from the Faculty of Science UPOL, CATRIN, UEB Olomouc, LF UPOL and FN Olomouc are invited to individual seminars to cover the molecular and cellular biology of microorganisms, plants, animals and humans. Individual lecturers present their research and that of their scientific groups in the form of annotated PowerPoint presentations. They introduce students to their workplaces, the content of research, the techniques used and the modern instrumentation of the laboratories. In the second part of the seminar, the students themselves ask these lecturers questions and discuss with them individual professional topics, further research directions and questions related to their eventual cooperation with them. The seminar is intended to help students orient themselves in scientific research conducted at biologically oriented workplaces in Olomouc. Students are then fully informed when choosing their bachelor theses, they are aware of the research carried out at individual workplaces and can find out the necessary information for their further studies during discussions with lecturers.
