Course content
Current problematics of the Czech inhabitants' diet (eating habits) with respect to the particular population groups. Traditional and alternative forms of eating (habits). Nutrition and health. Daily eating regime with respect to age, gender, and profession. Nutritional and qualitative demands on children (from toddler age to preschool age). Nutritional demands on children of younger school and older school age. Nutrition for pubescent girls and boys with respect to their lifestyle and physical activity. Nutritional needs of the adult population with respect to gender, profession, and lifestyle. Problematics of nutrition of seniors. Qualitative and quantitative demands on sportsman nutrition. Diet regime for the chosen diseases (diabetes mellitus, coeliac disease, phenylketonuria, allergies), diet system in healthcare facilities. Nutrition during difficult health conditions - demands on enteral and parenteral nutrition. Food supplements, their overview, importance of indication, and contraindication for their using. Advertisement and nutrition. Alimentary infections. Culinary food preparation. General and traditional division of food.

Learning outcomes
After passing the course, students should be able to: - Explain the basic terminology (nutrition, diet, comestible, food, etc.) - Define the principles of optimal nutrition and eating (habits) according to the current nutritional recommendations, - Describe the traditional and alternative forms of eating (habits) in our country as same as in other countries, - Evaluate the quantitative and qualitative demands on nutrition during the ontogenetic development of an individual/the specific groups of population (pregnant/nurturing women, sportsmen,?) - Explain the etiopathogenesis, therapy, and especially prevention of eating disorders and of other diseases related to the eating (habit) - allergy, coeliac disease, diabetes, diseases of affluence, alimentary infections), - Define the principle of diets in healthcare facilities.
Students can explain the basic terminology (nutrition, diet, comestible, food, etc.). Students define the principles of optimal nutrition and eating (habits) according to the current nutritional recommendations. Students can describe the traditional and alternative forms of eating (habits) in our country as same as in other countries. Students can explain the etiopathogenesis, therapy, and especially prevention of eating disorders. Students are well educated about the problematics of eating (habits) in healthcare facilities.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work, Written exam

Students elaborate a final paper concerning a given topic (from a particular field of study) that they submit at least one week before the credit week. The control and the evaluation of the paper is necessary for obtaining the credit. To obtain the credit student has to fulfill the assignments mentioned above and pass the didactic test.
