Course content
Basic terminology - family, kinship, family web, lineage, clan, tribe, state, civil society. General family theories. Changes of a family form and family behavior, family coexistence, and relationships. Types of families. Partnership and generational coexistence. Socialization and its doers in family. Family functions. Crisis of a family. Family policy - demarcation, concept and objectives. Social policy - demarcation, concept and objectives. Socio-legal protection of children - legislature and authorities. Syndrome CAN. Consultancy for families with children. Substitute family care. Care for children with increased attention demands, Problematics of psychic deprivation.

Learning outcomes
After passing the course, students should be able to: - Explain the basic terminology and general family theories. Specify the particular types of families and today's variations of relationships (+multigenerational households), - Describe today's concept of family and analyze changes (from the long-term perspective)in a family as an institution, family coexistence, and in relationships inside a family, - Clarify the process of socialization and differentiate between the people inside a family who participate in the process of socialization, - Discuss the crisis of a family with respect to the weakening family functions, - Define the objectives of social and family policy, - Characterize the legislature and authority of socio-legal protection of children and explain their problematics of syndrome CAN - List and describe the types of substitute family care.
After passing the course, a student obtains the competence to: - be knowledgeable in problematics of family in today's society and help options for families in a difficult position.
Prerequisites
Students should be well informed about the problematics of family and partnership behavior in society.

Oral exam, Written exam, Seminar Work

Requirements on students: - Active participation in the lessons - Fulfilling the assigned tasks - Elaboration and submission of a final paper on time
