Course content
|
The course is realized in the form of a block teaching - practice. It takes place at the chosen department of a healthcare facility under the supervision of an experienced tutor. A student works as a teacher with the tutor, who attends the practice with his/her students (e.g., as a teacher at a secondary medical school with future medical/health-care assistants/practical nurses, etc. The conception of nursery care with a focus on practice execution in clinical healthcare facilities, its specifics, competencies of the particular members of medical/healthcare team according to the achieved education, functional positions, etc.; Organization of teaching the nursery care subjects (especially the practical part) at clinical healthcare facilities; Preparation for teaching at wards or an outpatients' department; Evaluation of students with a focus on the complex evaluation of their performance, including abiding by the ethical principles, communication with a client and other medics; The most frequent mistakes the teachers make during the organization of the pedagogical observations in clinical healthcare facilities; Legislation aspects of practice execution in clinical healthcare facilities; Ethical principles of realization of pedagogical/professional practice in clinical healthcare facilities; Reflection/supervision in clinical healthcare facilities.

After passing the course, students should be able to: - Specify the work in clinical healthcare facilities, focusing on the nursing staff, their competencies according to the level of education, functional positions, etc.; - Characterize the organization of teaching nursing care subjects while focusing on the practical part which takes place in clinical healthcare facilities; - Describe the organization of the pedagogical observations in clinical healthcare facilities, including the lesson preparation and evaluation of students in these facilities; - Detect the most frequent mistakes the teachers make during the organization of the pedagogical observations in clinical healthcare facilities; - List the primary legislative and ethical principles when leading the practice in clinical healthcare facilities; - Explain the principle of reflection/supervision in clinical healthcare facilities, describe their organization, and work with the results of the reflection/supervision.

Students can describe the organization of the pedagogical observations in clinical healthcare facilities, including the lesson preparation and evaluation of students in these facilities. Assessment methods and criteria

Obtaining credit: - During the pedagogical observations, students undergo the observations in the subjects of Professional Practice, which take place in healthcare facilities under the supervision of an experienced tutor. Students fulfill the tasks assigned by the tutor (e.g., prepares the teaching plan at wards or an outpatients' department); takes part in the student evaluation focusing on the complex evaluation of their performance, including abiding by the ethical principles, communication with a client and other medics. At the same time, students elaborate their practice portfolio, which contains essential information about its progress, including fulfilling the tasks, evaluation by the tutor, etc. - After the students return from their pedagogical observations, as a part of their pedagogical practice reflection, they discuss the progress of the whole practice, particular situations which occurred during the observations. They place a student's case study into their portfolio.
