Learning outcomes |
The aim of this course is to comprehend the complexity of human sexuality, concerning all vital interdisciplinary relations, and understand its basis. All these procedures should be done via application, which means applying the knowledge of anthropology of sexuality in pedagogical practice. Anthropology of sexuality is based on two main principles concerning human sexuality - on biological and sociocultural determinism, but these should be seen as interconnected and equal. Anthropology of sexuality reflects the human sexuality in historical context from evolutionary but also psychological, sociological and politological points of view. However, the most crucial approaches are the biological, medical, culturological and ethological. Sexuality, including the reproductive and non-reproductive behaviour, is often seen from two different points of view - the man's one and the woman's one. Anyway, these views are simplified to some extent, sometimes might be even biased. So, these topics along with sexual identity, sexual orientation and sexual emotions are highlighted and often discussed during anthropology lessons. Anthropology also focuses on varieties of sexual behaviour, including sexual practices, which can be considered as minor or alternative. While studying these issues, the approach of cultural relativism is usually used. Other specific topics of anthropology of sexuality are sexuality and arts and virtual sexuality.
After passing the course student should acquire the competence to: - Understand human sexuality in a complex way - in biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual contexts, - Intervene in favour of "sexual minorities"- concerning the inclusive education, - Use appropriate strategies, which might strengthen the reproductive health, considering group individual differences in sexual behaviour - Acquire appropriate activisation methods, operations and techniques, which you will actively use during your future pedagogical practice |
