Course content
- Content and fundamental division of the fields of study, interdisciplinary relationships. - Classification of defects, clinical picture, therapy, prognosis, and prevention of the most frequent diseases in each field of study. - Introduction to orthopedics, orthopedic examination. - Structure and function of the locomotor system. - Basic characteristics: inflammatory and oncologic diseases of the muscular system, defects, and diseases of the upper and lower limbs, including the problematics of a poor posture. - Defects of the muscular system - Introduction to neurology, neurologic examination, and the main neurologic syndromes. - Basic characteristics: diseases of peripheral nerves, seizure disorders, neuromuscular junction diseases, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, vascular, infectious diseases of the nervous system. - Introduction to psychiatry - diagnosis, therapy, and prevention. - Cognitive processes, consciousness, thinking, intellect, emotions, instincts, will and actions, personality, and characteristics of its diseases. - Introduction to ORL - diagnosis, therapy, and prevention. - Congenital and acquired disorders of the hearing, voice, and speech. - Introduction to ophthalmology - diagnosis, therapy, and prevention. - Basic characteristics of particular diseases - tumors and inflammations. - Introduction to genetics - Non-professional first aid - Child development.

Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is to offer students an insight into the medical fields of orthopedics, neurology, psychiatry, genetics, ORL, ophthalmology, from propaedeutical point of view. Besides, the course emphasizes the necessity to be familiar with the knowledge of human development and first aid. Student is presented with the knowledge of these fields of study in order to supply their needs as a future graduate.
A student can describe the orthopedic examination, knows the function and structure of the locomotor system. The Student can define the basic characteristics of muscular system diseases, including the classification of the defects. The student knows the neurologic examinations and the main neurologic syndromes. The Student can describe the basic characteristics of peripheral nerve diseases, seizure disorders, and vascular/inflammatory diseases of the nervous system. The student is well informed in the sphere of psychiatric diseases with specialization in cognitive processes, their diagnosis, therapy, and prevention. Student can demonstrate knowledge in ORL, ophthalmology with specialization in congenital and acquired disorders of the hearing, voice, and speech. The student knows the basics of genetics. The student knows the particular child's developmental stages and their basic characteristic.

Presence in consultations is compulsory. A student elaborates a final paper concerning the given topic (from a particular field of study), which he/she submits at least one week before the credit week. The control and the evaluation are the necessary conditions for obtaining the credit and ensures access to the exam. The form of the exam is a written test where 75% is the minimum in order to pass.
