Course content
|
The current issue of nutrition of the population of the Czech Republic with regard to the various population groups. Conventional and alternative forms of catering. Nutrition and health. Daily eating regime with regard to age, sex and professional traits. Nutritional and quality standards in children aged toddler and preschool age. Nutritional requirements for children younger and older school age. Nutrition for adolescent girls and boys with regard to lifestyle and physical activity. Nutritional needs of the adult population with respect to gender, profession and lifestyle. Nutritional issues for people in old age. Qualitative and quantitative nutritional requirements of athletes. Diet for selected types of diseases (DM, celiac disease, phenylketonuria, allergies) diet system in medical institutions. Nutrition in difficult conditions - demands for enteral and parenteral nutrition. Dietary supplements, their outline, meaning indications and contraindications for use. Advertising and nutrition. Alimentary infections. Culinary food preparation. General classification and traditional food.

Learning outcomes
|
After completing the course, students should be able to: - explain basic terminology (nutrition, diet, food, foodstuff, food etc.) - define the principles of optimal nutrition and eating according to current dietary recommendations, - describe conventional and alternative forms of eating in our and foreign countries - assess the quantitative and qualitative demands on nutrition during ontogenetic development and in specific population groups (pregnant and lactating women, athletes, etc.) - explain etiopathogenesis, therapy, and in particular the prevention of eating disorders, and in other diseases linked to food (allergies, celiac disease, diabetes, lifestyle diseases, foodborne infections) - defining principle meals in healthcare facilities.

Written exam, Seminar Work
The student solves a task on an assigned topic within the range of 5 to 10 A4 pages and delivered in the LMS Unifor least a week before granting the colloquium. Check tutor is required.
