Course content
Role of psychological approach in the treatment of patients, problem of relationship sick individual - illness, ill individual - health personnel, ill individual - environment, holistic approach to the sick individual, personality prerequisites for the development of somatic diseases, psychosomatic relations and psychosomatic and somatopsychic model of illness and health, stress Psychological approach to patients in selected medical disciplines (traumatology, surgery, internal medicine, neurology, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, oncology, geriatrics), psychological intervention, psychological intervention, crisis management intervention, Balint and Rogers approach to man, Chronic pain management, psychological care for chronically ill and terminally ill patients, during dying and death, the issue of contacts with relatives of dying.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the discipline is primarily the ability to apply theoretical knowledge about health and illness from a bio-psycho-social-spiritual point of view and a holistic approach to the sick individual. Characterize individuals' responses to stressful situations, including protective factors, mechanisms of illness and relationships, sick individual - illness, sick individual - health care, ill individual - environment. Applying the knowledge of adequate psychological approach to patients in various medical disciplines.
After completing the course students should be able to: - characterize the bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach to human psyche, - to clarify the concepts of health and illness, - Evaluate the role of factors influencing health and disease, - deduce the nature and mechanisms of the disease, - to characterize the individual's reactions to stress situations and to take protective factors in the context of coping with stress and various diseases, - to characterize the relationship of a sick individual - a disease, a diseased individual - a medical practitioner, a diseased individual - an environment, - Appropriately apply the acquired knowledge in contact with different categories of patients, - manage marginal situations in the care of dying individuals and contacts with relatives of dying, - apply the knowledge of adequate psychological approach to patients in various medical disciplines.
Prerequisites
The discipline is intended for students in the field of Teaching specialized subjects for secondary nursing schools.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Seminar Work

The conditions specified by the lecturer at the beginning of the term. Preparation of a seminar work on a given topic in the range of 7 normalized A4 pages including references to the used resources according to ISO 690. In addition, students will place a seminar work in the Portal UP portal.upol.cz in the section "My Study" "Semestral Work". Seminar work is automatically checked in the plagiarism detection system.
