Course content
Health - definition of health, basic terminology and concepts of health, models of health and health determinants. Health of the population of the Czech Republic. Illness - basic terminology, stages of illness behavior, consequences of illness, disease prevention. Health of the Czech Republic - socio-historical context, the characteristics of the current state system of health care facilities. The importance of nutrition and eating habits for human health. Health risks and the possibility of influencing during improper nutrition. Eating disorders. Physical activity and its importance for human health. Health risks and the possibility of their influence at the lack of physical activity. Mental hygiene and its importance for human health. Health risks and the possibility of influencing the excessive stress. Prevention of selected diseases - cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, depression and anxiety, suicidal behavior, infectious diseases, AIDS. Preventing cancer - lung cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, skin cancer, cancer of the oral cavity. Tabakism. Health risks and possibilities to influence them. Smoking prevention. Alcoholism. Health risks and possibilities to influence them. Prevention of excessive alcohol consumption. Drug addiction. Health risks and possibilities to influence them. Prevention of drug addiction. Gambling addiction on sects workaholism. Prevention aspects of the addiction. Sexual deviance - sadism, masochism, transvestism, frotteurism, tušerství, voyeurism, exhibitionism, pedophilia, gerontophilia, fetishism, zoophilia and necrophilia.

Learning outcomes
The main topic of the course entitled is making students familiar with the basic knowledge from the area of health sciences that they are about to encounter over the course of their studies.
Students: - understand the importance of health care and the importance of primary prevention, - learn about the programs and health projects, - acquire basic knowledge of healthy lifestyle - obtain information about the most common diseases of different systems and their possible prevention, with an emphasis on chronic non-infectious diseases.
