Course content |
World Health Organization (WHO) - principle, strategy, functioning, control. Public health state authorities: public health authorities, legislation. Health promotion programmes in an international context, controlled by WHO: Health 21 and Health 2020 and their modifications: Zdraví 21, Zdraví 2020; Health promoting school; Healthy city/town, Healthy region: principles and their philosophies, basic rules; examples of preventive programs and health promotion programs at schools. Examples of health promotion programs and projects, controlled by The National Institute of Public Health and other state or non-state organizations and institutions. Draft of a model project, made by students, focusing on health promotion, health education, and development of health literacy - its objectives (assumed effectivity), target audience, schedule, material and technical conditions, project evaluation etc. Transfer of particular health promotion/health education/ health literacy increasing programs and projects into the educational reality.

Learning outcomes |
After passing the course, students should be able to: - Characterize the importance of projects, and their making, in health education as a crucial part of an educational process (at all types of schools and school facilities), - Explain the essence of the World Health Organization - principles and strategic intentions, - Characterize the specifics of health promotion programs with their general and partial objectives on both - national and international level (especially programs Health 21 and Health 2020), - State the particular examples of organizations, programs, and projects which lead to health promotion, health education, and development of health literacy of the particular population groups (main focus on pupils at a primary and lower secondary level of education), - Suggest their model project at a local level (for fulfilling the needs of a school), which intends to improve the level of health literacy of pupils (or at least minimize a risky lifestyle behavior of pupils and other groups of people), - Specify the utilization of health promotion/health education/health literacy improving programs and projects in educational reality.
Students gain an overview of the health promotion and health literacy increasing programs and projects in CR and abroad. Students gain competence in drafting their educational project, focusing on developing the health literacy of a target audience. |

Student performance, Seminar Work
Full-time study: a combination of an oral and written form of verification of the acquired knowledge (colloquium), active participation in the seminars (minimum of 80% attendance), elaboration of a final paper on a given topic - rafting a project, self-study - preparation for the colloquium. Part-time study: a combination of an oral and written form of verification of the acquired knowledge (colloquium), active participation in the tutorials, a study of recommended sources, elaboration of a final paper on a given topic - rafting a project, self-study - preparation for the colloquium. |
