Course content
1. Significance and essence of demography, the object of demographic inquiry 2. Demographic behaviour. Mathusianism. 3. Population explosion. 4. Demographic events. 5. Sources of demographic data. 6. Population census ? history (population registers), present (+ future). 7. The oldest demographic sources in the Czech territory. 8. Demographic aging. Life expectancy. 9. Population structure. 10. Population layout. 11. Demographic processes analysis. Migration. 12. Household. 13. Natality policy, population optimum, population climate. 14. Population theories.

Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is explain basics of demography (methodology, concepts and terminology).
Orientation in the demographic issue.
Prerequisites
The course introduces basic issues of demography and population trends, demographic events and processes, deals with the population structure, describes a household, its types and functions, introduces demographical data resources, deals with selected population theories, population policy and its provisions.
