Course content
Topics: Specifics of geriatric client. Indications and contraindications of exercise in seniors. The importance of physical activities (PA) in people with health limitations. PA in the complex health care system. Use in complex health care system. Possibilities of leisure activities of persons with health limitations. The structure of the exercise unit and its content - an overview of elements applicable to the senior population (fitness exercises, stretching, balance exercises, cognitive training, relaxation, etc.). Movement programs in seniors with osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and joint replacements. Movement programs in seniors after injuries of the joint and skeletal system with consequences (pain, limitation of the range of movement, impaired mobility, muscle weakening, etc.). Movement programs in seniors with chronic back pain. Physical programs in seniors with obesity. Movement programs in seniors with diabetes mellitus. Movement programs in seniors with respiratory diseases. Movement programs in seniors with compensated cardiovascular disease. Exercise programs in seniors with a lighter form of neurological diagnoses (Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, etc.). Possibilities of PA in seniors with significant impairment of mobility (stp. Amputations, stroke, spinal injuries ...)

Learning outcomes
The course acquaints students with the most common diagnoses and limitations of seniors and their specificities with respect to performing various physical activities. Particular attention is paid to physical activities in seniors with diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and reduced mobility of various etiology. Based on this knowledge they will be able to set up exercise units and design physical activities for seniors and adapt them individually to people with specific health restrictions. The aim is to support the role of an instructor as a member of a multidisciplinary team in promoting healthy and quality aging of seniors.
