Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to develop students' ability to select, administer, and interpret diagnostic procedures relevant to strength and conditioning and sport-specific preparation. The course builds on the analysis of sports performance demands and focuses on assessing selected physical and sport-specific characteristics of the athlete. Particular emphasis is placed on using testing results as a basis for subsequent training decisions and planning.
Upon completion of the course, the student is able to: - explain the role of diagnostics within athlete preparation; - select tests appropriate to the demands of a specific sport; - explain fundamental principles of validity, reliability, and testing standardisation; - administer and describe selected physical performance tests; - use sport-specific testing procedures; - interpret results within the context of the individual athlete; - identify potential strengths and development needs; - assess the practical usefulness of testing outcomes; - critically interpret body composition in relation to sports performance; - create a basic athlete performance profile.
