Course content
In the practical part of the course the student leads a lesson aimed at training swimming including correct swimming technique. The topics are as follows: - Technical exercise stroke stage, - Technical exercise transfer stage, - Technical exercise coordination, - Slow interval training, - Quick interval training, - Training of flip turns, - Speed training, - Training aimed at the function of upper and lower extremities.

  • Homework for Teaching - 10 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
Throughout the course the students: - Gain experience in leading practical swimming training sessions, - Lead commercial lessons aimed at swimming, - Learn to identify incorrect swimming technique and propose suitable exercise to correct any mistakes, - Learn to apply individualized load. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student: - Knows the methods of training starts and flip turns, - Knows the battery of technical exercises for the crawl swimming technique, - Is able to identify incorrect crawl swimming technique and knows correction exercises, - Knows the basic methods of training swimming, - Is able to use a stopwatch, measure heart rate and produce an individualized swimming training plan.
Prerequisites
A prerequisite is successful completion of the following Bachelor's courses: KAS/PL1 or KAS/PG2.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Seminar Work

- Active participation in lessons, - The student is supposed to lead a lesson on a given topic (see Content), - Submission of a seminar paper on a given topic including assessment of the results and recorded data. - Swimming 400 m crawl within a specified time limit.
