Course content
A survey of the Geography of Great Britain and of the main aspects of British society and culture

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Projection (static, dynamic)
  • Homework for Teaching - 12 hours per semester
  • Attendace - 26 hours per semester
  • Semestral Work - 10 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Course Credit - 5 hours per semester
  • Preparation for the Exam - 7 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The students will be able to: -characterize individual regions of Great Britain, their geography, society and culture -describe the cultural differences between the Czech Republic and Great Britain -describe the contribution of the most important figures in British culture and politics -select a text, video, and so on, related to Great Britain to be used in teaching English
knowledge of British culture and society
Prerequisites
an adequate knowledge of English, speaking and writing

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Seminar Work, Written exam

-attendance -reading -participation at seminar discussions -final written test Individual study plan -students with an Individual Study Plan will, in compensation for the course attendance, submit a presentation in MS Powerpoint (10-25 slides, specification of the presentation is in the Moodle page of the course and in the course sylabus file), other course credit requirements are unchanged (the final written test, and so on) and will be met by the student in a format subject to approval by the instructor
