The course concentrates on practising the comprehension of texts with different styles, accents and geographical varieties of English and consolidating basic techniques of listening comprehension. The course focuses on consolidating the techniques of listening comprehension at the C1 level. Aims: After completing the course students will be able to: - follow extended speech even if it is not clearly structured, - understand recordings including some non-standard usage, - take detailed notes during a lecture, - notice details in listening texts, - follow extended speech on abstract and complex topics, - notice implicitly signalled attitudes and implied relationships between speakers.
