Course content
Contemporary British poetry Contemporary British drama Postcolonial literature, ethnic identity and multiculturalism in contemporary British literature Contemporary women writers, gender and sexual identity in contemporary British literature Postmodernism and its developmental tendencies in contemporary British literature 21st century authors and their influence on British literature The use of contemporary British texts in ELT, eventually in relation to other school subjects

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should be familiar with contemporary British literature based on their theoretical knowledge as well as their own reading understand the social and cultural context of production and analysis of literary texts be able to work with literary texts as sources of cultural, social and historical information and opinions be able to choose literary texts whose content and structure is adequate for ELT be able to prepare a detailed lesson plan which uses a literary text in ELT

Student performance

Attendance, reading assigned texts, submitting a seminar paper (essay or lesson plan). Students with ISP: attendance is not required, reading assigned texts, 2 seminar papers (essay and lesson plan using a literary text from the field of British literature)
